I am southern and have always loved good food. At present I am amending my recipes to make them more healthy while preserving the good taste. I learned to cook from two wonderful men in my life: my dad (I actually thought of planting a watermelon vine on his grave due to his love of good food) and my husband (the grill master).
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, vegetables, chili, poppyseed chicken, and anything my family loves
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad was the cook in our family. He successfully mastered his cooking skills under direction of my wonderful grandmother. They could make any vegetable taste great. Good food to them was what brought the family together. My dad would cook any meal and he almost always added jalapenos to at least one dish from the meal. We called him Jalapeno Howie. My hero!
My cooking triumphs
I have never been injured (lacerated, burned, traumatized from an angry recipient of my cooking) while preparing and serving a meal. God has always blessed the cook in our house.
My cooking tragedies
There have been many but I chose to dwell on the positive!!!
