About this Cook
Long-timer in Human Resources, most recently owner of organic sweet cherry farm. Big time into living green/sustainably and supporting local farmers.
My favorite things to cook
Vegetarian food for my hubby - he loves anything Mexican or Italian. We also make a lot of creative salads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making banket at Christmas time. Grandma's baked beans or sloppy joes.
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean cheese cake. Once made dinner for 50 (hubby's boss and the whole team plus their spouses) Turned out great! Nice to have help with the dishes too. =)
My cooking tragedies
First time making mac and cheese for hubby in 1984, he will not let me forget how the cheese turned out clumpy.

Arugula Salad with Cannellini Beans
This is delicious. I had some beautiful arugula and started searching for recipes. Thank goodness I found this. Hubby is a vegetarian, so I sometimes struggle for new recipes. I made this one exactly as printed, but added a little onion with the garlic. The wine, garlic and tomatoes are a lovely counterpoint to the spicy arugula. I think the cheese is a must. =) Thanks, Kim!

Smoked Salmon Alfredo Sauce
A bit rich for our taste. I made a roux and used milk instead of the heavy cream. I really like the tomatoes with the parsley and smoked salmon. Great combo.

Savory Mushroom-Barley Soup
This recipe is a very solid, basic recipe, but like the other reviewers, I kicked it up a bit. I used mushroom broth and shitakes. I added garlic, cayenne and about two tsps of white wine worcesterhire sauce. To serve, I topped with toasted baguette and grated gruyere. Perfect!
