About this Cook
I am a graphic designer by trade but a musician at heart. My mother has celiac disease and has dedicated her life to making gluten free food for people with the same affliction. Learn more at www.glutenfreeda.com
My favorite things to cook
I really like cooking challenging dishes. I do have a few staples that always please, like an all day spaghetti sauce, spicy/sweet chili, and pulled pork.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was growing up I was always in the kitchen with my parents. My mother had a rule that no egg shell could be placed into the garbage disposal, it had to be thrown from across the room. Once a week the family would make an elaborate dish. One of us would get to be the lead chef and the others would help. We ate many wonderful things but, I remember eating rabbit on Easter the most.
My cooking triumphs
Making chicken goat cheese tamales with a verde sauce. I had about three different things cooking all at once that had to come together exactly at the same time. It was a lot of work but man was it good.
My cooking tragedies
There isn't really any I remember. I always find something slightly wrong with my dishes and try and improve on them the next time.

Tex-Mex Burger with Cajun Mayo
This was a really good burger recipe. It has a nice kick to it.

North Carolina-Style Pulled Pork
This was the best pulled pork I have ever tasted. I did not have the means to cook it properly so I used a slow cooker and Big Al's BBQ sauce. Earth became heaven the moment I bit into my sandwhich. Make this for your family and they will be calling you god!
