Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Neither my husband nor I are big lemonade people, but just got a jigger one day to make some....he called me on my cell phone later to say "that is the absolute best lemonade I've had in my life!"

Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
Here are some tips I hope you find useful...putting it into bags seemed too messy for 1 person, so instead I used the Ziploc reusable containers, since they are marked by the cup. That way, I could mix up half, then add the other half and know just how much mix to pop ratio. The mix makes exactly 17 cups. It also helps it freeze faster-I made it at 11AM, mixed it together at 6PM and it was perfect consistency. Also, I used raspberry and lime jello, full sugar, and make sure you use unsweetened pineapple juice, and it definitely is not too sweet-and I prefer tart over sweet! Very good punch, much better than adding sherbet.

Almond-Crusted Tilapia

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
Wasn't too thrilled with this-the almonds gave it a weird, yet bland taste. Made exactly as called for, but family didn't care for it-ate the fish, not the coating. Broiled parmesan was better liked by the kids, sorry! Wouldn't make this again.

Chip Chicken Lollipops

Kids loved it-crushed sour cream and onion chips, but made it a little healthier by using egg beaters to dip it in instead of eggs, kids couldn't get enough!

Portuguese Chicken I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
This was fabulous! I am a health-conscious cook, so I used fat free half n half, and used boneless skinless chicken breast. Tasted awesome! Kids gobbled it down, asking for more! Truly a special meal, without taking "special" time!

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
How perfect-looked for a recipe to replicate the awesome butter on the Texas Roadhouse buns, and this is it! Use cinnamon, not pumpkin spice if thats the flavor you want-deeeelicious! Great on any kind of bun/bread, but slightly warmed is definitely best. Goes great, oddly, with steak!

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
I HATE ASPARAGUS. In fact, my brother loved it so much that he asked for it EVERY year for his birthday. I also HATED his birthday!!! That being said...I decided to give it a try, what with the grown up taste buds and all. And....drumroll...it was delicious!! I sprinkled a teeny dusting of parm cheese on after, and definitely add fresh garlic at the end. Also used mainly olive oil, with just a tbl of butter for a healthier dish. My kids loved it too!

Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
These were wonderful! Even healthier than baked in foil, because then you add butter...this way, you get your healthy olive oil in! Kids love these. I just used ground sea salt, fresh ground black pepper, a little garlic powder and onion powder, then just a sprinkling of basil. Terriffic!

Chocolate Billionaires

I'd rate this a 5 star for easy-ness, and a 4.5 star for taste. A little to much teeth-stickablity for me, but overall a good tasting treat. Unfortunately, only a 3 star for eye appeal...they just don't look good on a cookie tray for the holidays.

No-Noodle Zucchini Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
I made this for our holiday get together, as a healthy alternative to traditional lasagna. Of course, all the "ladies" were curious to see what it tasted like...and everyone loved it! It is delicious. For those of you with kids, here's my trick answer when they ask "hey, what are those green things??" Answer: "They're Shrek noodles!!" My kids LOVE this dish. (5 and 8 yrs old)

Cranberry Orange Cookies

I'm normally a chocolate freak, but this year wanted to add a new cookie to my cookie trays-I make them for sale each year for a church fundraiser. Decided to add these...and oh my gosh they are incredible! followed the recipe EXACTLY, and yes, be careful not to overcook them. Add this to your holiday cookies, youwon't be dissapointed!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
I don't like or eat rolled sugar cookies. But the kids love to make them, so I gave these a try. I LOVED THEM!!! These are not only excellent to work with, they taste awesome!!! I used powdered sugar to knead in and roll out with, so it gave them a little more sweetness instead of the typical bland flavor. I also used almond in the frosting to add flavor. By far the best rolled sugar cookie recipe!

Plain Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
These were wonderful! **NOTE..do NOT use the new "caramel bits" Kraft makes, they don't taste as good-they are waxy** I have a fall festival for my family each year, including 14 nieces and nephews, ages 1-15. These were so easy, and there was little mess! The kids loved them. I thought they tasted best with the green apples, Granny Smith. Made exactly like the recipe, thanks!!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I am not a brownie person. Past tense! I am now a brownie person! These are incredible brownies-not cakey, yet not dense like fudge. Moist, not sugary-sweet-they are the perfect brownie! I will not be making these much though, as I would eat the whole pan in one sitting!! You won't be dissapointed. I followed the directions exactly, no subs or "fixes", it is perfect as is. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
The worsht sauce was too overpowering-I double the other seasonings but left that the same, glad I did they would have been ruined. I'll make it next time with a different recipe without any worsht sauce. If you aren't a big fan of the sauce, you probably won't care for these.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This isn't traditional apple pie, it tasted more like a caramel apple pie-so not what was expected. Still very good though! But I only gave it 4 stars because of the incomplete directions on how long to "simmer" the sauce for-mine only simmered about 3 minutes and it got too thick, but the water still separated-I took the advice of another reviewer and exchanged some vanilla for the water, but I wouldn't do that again, may be what caused the separation. I'd try it again.

Clark's Quiche

This was okay to me, I've had/made many other quiches and egg bakes that are much better. Not much flavor. I did make it crustless, but made everything else as called for.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
I've never made a potato/ham soup before, as I'm not the biggest ham fan. This, however, is one of the best soups I've ever tasted!! Each bite got better and better! I used real chicken broth, and added chopped carrots instead of celery. Everything else was the same, and this will become a family favorite-my 9 & 5 year olds gobbled it up!
