About this Cook
I rarely make the same dish twice, unless it's an absolute favorite or a classic
My favorite things to cook
hot, filling meals - stews, soups, casseroles, chili, stir-fries
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family eats the EXACT same food every year for both Thanksgiving and Christmas: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, escalloped corn, cranberries, fruit salad, pumpkin and apple pies. You'd think it'd get boring but it's comforting to know that your favorites (escalloped corn!) will always be there!
My cooking triumphs
people have raved about my spanakopita and lamb tagine (both recipes from here) I also now make my own bread and pizza dough, which isn't as hard as it seems
My cooking tragedies
still working on meal coordination and timing - it's hard to get everything ready at the right moment!! And I can never seem to make pies correctly - a task I have yet to master.

Shrimp and Asparagus
Really great recipe. Like the other reviewers, I too cut back on the oil and butter. I used about 1 TBSP for the garlic then added about 1/3 of a stick of butter. I also added extra lemon juice. I used whole-wheat penne instead of egg noodles and it still tasted great! Be sure to add plenty of black pepper or red pepper flakes for that extra kick.

Salmon With Scalloped Sweet Potatoes
Love the potential of the dish yet felt something was missing. I think I would rather just have mashed sweet potatoes on the side instead of trying to replicate the "scalloped" taste.

Lamb Tagine
I've made this twice for two different dinner parties. Everyone LOVES it! I serve it with rice or couscous and I've also made spanakopita as a side dish/appetizer to go along with it.
