About this Cook
I have lived in Charlotte, NC. for two years now and love it. I love to cook, it's my passion, and I think about food nearly all day long. I work full time retail and am a part time student so I don't have nights free for as much cooking as I'd like. I live alone so I'm also interested in things that keep well and creative things to do with leftovers. Other than food, I love music, reading, movies, crafts, and loving life and learning new things.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new things, I rarely repeat dishes. There really aren't any foods I won't eat! My favorite meats are veal and pork, I've never met a vegetable I didn't like, and I love garlic and ginger.

Crunchy Romaine Toss
I've made this recipe from many years ago, originally from a church cook book but it is nearly identical except it calls for less dressing, which I saw in reviews. I've done a variety of things with it, including adding chopped celery, canned water chestnuts, and even using cabbage instead of romaine. Regardless, if you make the recipe as it is written I think you will be pleased. I always use walnuts (toasted in a dry pan), not almonds, it is a different creaminess, flavor and crunch. I made it the tonight with red romaine that I found at the grocery store which was healthier and more colorful.

Tropical Salad with Pineapple Vinaigrette
Loved this recipe! I only found sweetened shredded coconut in the baking aisle so I purchased a fresh coconut and grated it. Made a great difference! I will certainly make this again. Great texture and balance.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili
This was a good start. I made the recipe as it is written. With a few tweaks it would easily be a four or a five star recipe. I think I will make this again because it is budget friendly, I would add more garlic and add more pumpkin, and kidney beans.
