Spicy Seafood Shell Appetizers

These were great! Didn't change anything in the recipe, however, I served them in little phyllo shells and sprinkled Old Bay on top instead of paprika. They were a huge hit on our Easter buffet.

Applesauce

Once you try this recipe you will never buy jarred applesauce again! I've been making it for years (without sugar). You can make it even easier by not peeling the apples and just throwing the whole mess into a food mill. This will give it a nice, smooth texture and remove the skin. If you have leftovers it freezes well.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

These are the best muffins ever. I used buttermilk instead of regular because I always bake with buttermilk. Also added more berries than called for. The topping is excellent and sends these muffins over the top (no pun intended).

Crisp Lemon Sugar Cookies

The greatest challenge in making these cookies is trying to keep from eating the whole batch!! They're perfect when made to the recipe. People: lemon juice and lemon extract are NOT the same thing!!! Lemon extract is very concentrated. It's unfair to give a recipe a mediocre or bad review if you haven't used the proper ingredients!!!! If you're using juice, don't come on here and say they didn't have any lemon flavour.

Pina Colada Punch

Excellent for a summer barbecue. I put the pineapple in the blender for a quick whir so it would be more of a puree and used coconut rum instead of regular (I also added more than the recipe specifies). We had no leftovers and a lot of very "happy" guests.

Original Irish Cream

After cutting down the amount of whiskey and amount of almond, it was perfect. Made several batches and put it in decorative bottles for Christmas gifts. Everyone loved it!

Irish Cream Chocolate Cheesecake

Made this for Christmas. Delicious. Added 1/2 c of homemade Irish Cream instead of 1/4 c. Besides that, kept recipe as is. Very rich and yummy.

Southwestern Pasta Salad

Made this for a family gathering. Only change made was to double the oil and throw in some black olives. Was a major hit with the family. Tastes better if allowed to sit in fridge overnight.

Lemon Curd

Excellent! Filled a coconut cake with this lemon curd for Easter and it was wonderful! Just the right balance of tart and sweet. The recipe couldn't be easier either. Will start using this regularly instead of my usual lemon filling.

Sauteed Garlic Asparagus

What an easy and quick way to prepare asparagus. And was it every yummy! I did cook the asparagus before hand to make it crisp tender and then quick sauteed it. Topped it off with some grated parmesan. Will definitely be making this one again.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

These cookies have the best buttery flavor. Next time I make them, I'll be using them for cookie bouquets so I'll omit the baking powder so the dough will maintain its shape and won't spread.

Broccoli Cheese Soup VII

I used a 16 oz. bag of frozen chopped broccoli and shredded cheddar instead of Velveeta. Turned out great! Thick and rich and very comforting! Serve with a small salad and good bread for an excellent week-night meal.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw II

I made, as written, using pre-shredded cabbage and this was delicious. Very important to make several hours before serving for the flavors to blend. I made the night before and it was perfect. Used on pulled pork sandwiches.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

This starter has been going around and around my church and office for a while now so I'm glad that I can now take a little break and make it at a later time. I kept making it because I didn't want to lose the starter. I haven't tried freezing the starter, but the bread made with it freezes very well. I'm so thankful for all of the suggestions from other reviews. Next time I'll make it with bananas or apples or maybe even zucchini. All sound yummy.
