About this Cook
I am newly married and also a medical student which tend to keep me very busy. However, I love to cook when I have the time. I started cooking for me family when I was around 12 or 13 and spent my summers during college working as a line cook and baker in a bakery near my hometown. I usually don't follow a recipe exactly but I like to look at them to get ideas.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make just about anything but especially things like cookies and cakes which allow to get a little creative and decorate as well. For everyday recipes I am always trying to make things healthier by reducing the fat or sugar content.
My cooking tragedies
I once used baking soda in donuts instead of baking powder. Those things could have broken a window.

Caramel Apple Bars II
I made these to bring to church for coffee hour and everyone raved about them. I made them exactly as the recipe states except I used pecans instead of walnuts. They are very messy (especially the inner pieces) so be sure to bring lots of napkins!

Pumpkin Hummus
I love anything with pumpkin in it but I was a little skeptical about this. I cut the recipe in half and used a 29 ounce can of chickpeas. That seemed to be a good ratio because it tastes excellent. My husband loves it too and he tends to dislike things that are nontraditional.
