Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
This was amazing! I used a cup of ham and easily could have added more without overpowering the soup. Next time I make this I will add some cheddar to the soup and top the bowls with it.

Vernita's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
I subbed a cup of milk for the water and used more crackers than called for. This was delicious! I would use very little onion next time.

Corn and Chicken Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
This was not very good. I used bacon instead of ham and 1/2 and 1/2 in place of milk but that wasn't the problem. It is bland. This chowder needs something other than thyme. I have made better chowders and would not recommend this one. It requires a lot of prep work and the results are disappointing. If you follow the recipe and don't make a lot of changes it isn't good.

Herb Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
My family really liked these. I used minced garlic instead of the powder but otherwise I followed the recipe. I baked them about 15 mins. and they were perfect. I would really recommend using the minced garlic over the powder. I am glad I found this recipe and loved how easy and delicious these rolls were.

Deep Fried Turkey Rub

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
WOW!! This was so good. I followed the instructions exactly. I marinated the turkey for 2 days and really agree that it made a world of difference. The herb flavoring really penetrated the meat and was so delicious. We had a large family dinner and everyone raved how amazing the turkey was. I was pretty impressed. This is definitely a rub you should try!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
This was very tasty. I used ground venison in place of the beef. And after reading reviews of it being soupy and thin I omitted the tomato sauce. I was also pretty scared of using 1/4 cup of chili powder. I started off with 2 Tbs. and figured I could add more if needed. But I was real happy with that amount. It wasn't too much for my small children. Cooking this for 90 min. was really key. It thickened up beautifully. I added about a cup or so of macaroni and turned it into chili mac. We enjoyed the flavor of the chili and didn't feel that it was too tomatoey. This is a really good base recipe that you can add or delete whatever your family likes.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
This was just average. The pumpkin flavor is too subtle in my opinion thus causing the cheesecake to be a bit bland. We ate it but I won't make it again.

Mini Pumpkin Butterscotch Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
WOW! WOW! WOW! Can you tell we loved them? Everyone thought these were absolutely amazing and I've shared the recipe twice already. The pumpkin, butterscotch, and spice flavors blend so harmoniously that these muffins are like little bites of heaven. I highly recommend you try this recipe.

Aunt Fannie's Dinner

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
This is good if you have no time to cook and just want to get something on the table. All the ingredients are already in your pantry. But the end result is not that great. Granted, it is better than Hamburger Helper. I did add some italian seasoning, minced garlic and worcestshire sauce.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
My family liked the marinade but not the fish. This glaze would be great on chicken. My mahi mahi looked exactly like the recipe picture. I used 1/4 tsp dried ginger in place of fresh.

Torsk

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
My whole family loved this. I used Old Bay Seasoning in place of the paprika. I was shocked when both my 3 and 5 yr. olds asked for seconds. For them, I just poured some melted butter on the fish. We didn't need nearly as much as the recipe called for. This recipe was such a wonderful find.

Apple Crisp I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
I liked the packets of oatmeal a lot for the crisp. Very easy and worked well. I used a caramel butterscotch ice cream topping in place of the maple syrup but used way too much which made the crisp very chewy. It did however taste like a delicious caramel apple in a bowl. I highly recommend serving this with vanilla ice cream. It is not nearly as good without it.

Herbed Pork Roast

The herbs make the edge of the meat tasty but doesn't penetrate to inside. Guests could taste the sugar. It was interesting. I thought this was just ok.

Summer Vegetable Ratatouille

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
Basically, I ended up with a pot full of overcooked veggies. We had a ratatouille party and I chose this recipe. The guests all said it wasn't too bad but they were being kind. I didn't use fresh parsley or thyme so I estimated on how much dried herbs to use. Before serving I added about a cup of parmesan and mixed well then added more cheese on top when serving. I followed the recipe by cubing and chopping the veggies but the picture shows them all sliced. Maybe that makes a difference? Last night I added the leftovers to spaghetti sauce and that was very good. I liked the idea of ratatouille and will try it again in the future but with a different recipe.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
Oh my goodness!! These were so yummy. The nutmeg flavor was pronounced but since I love nutmeg I thought it was great. My sister didn't know what it tasted like but she too liked the muffin. It's not too strong but can easy be subbed out with cinnamon. Some reviewers had issues with the consistency of these but I thought they were great, just like any muffin I've ever had. Believe it or not, my 3 and 5 yr. olds didn't like these. They licked the tops and left the whole muffin. That left me to eat them up. Oh darn. I mean who else is gonna eat them after they've been licked clean? I liked that this recipe came together very easily, the result was delicious, and the amount was accurate. I got exactly 24 mini muffins. I will make this again with cinnamon in place of the nutmeg for my kids.

Simple Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
I really wanted to make this salad but had to improvise a bit with what I had on hand. For the pasta I used bowtie and that went over well with the kids. I didn't have any green onions but since I don't care for raw onions I wouldn't have added any anyway. I only had 2 roma tomatoes and that wasn't enough. The recipe calls for 6 and and that would have been a lot better. I used a greek vinagrette instead of Italian and liked that a lot since it had feta cheese in it. I don't like it when recipes say to use cheese by the ounce. I used at least a cup. When it came time to serve I added more dressing and parmesan. I would recommend this recipe. It was delicious and easy.

Heart Attack Eggs

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
I have making breakfast this way for years. I gave it 4 stars because while my dh loves this, I don't like such greasy eggs. I make his first then make mine. When mine are done they go from the pan to a paper towel lined plate where I then pat them gently to remove the excess grease. Some still remains but I do my best. Cooking the eggs in bacon grease makes them delicious!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
This recipe is definitely worthy of a 5 star review. It uses basic ingredients, is easy to prepare, and is the BEST chili I have ever had. This is my new chili recipe and will replace all others. Usually a chili tastes better the next day, but this one is good from the get-go. I absolutely recommend you try this!

Catfish Gumbo

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
I made this for my family using Swai fillets. When I did an ingredient search this was one that came up. I also had 3 beautiful tomatoes that needed to be eaten so this recipe fit the bill. I used a 12 oz. frozen veggie mixture of onion, celery, and bell pepper and steamed it then added to the soup. Because I have two small kids I didn't add the hot sauce, but I did add the red pepper flakes. This recipe was a bit out of my comfort zone but the whole family really enjoyed it. I added 1/3 cup rice when I added the fish and it was perfect. When I checked it 15 min. later the rice wasn't done and the gumbo was very thin. I mixed flour and water to thicken it up. That was what this recipe really needed. The flavors are great. I would definitely make this again.
