I really love the flavor of this pie. Not your typical raspberry pie. I did not give it 5 stars because I did not like the crumb top and used a more traditional one, (or my quick one by mixing 1 pkg of instant brown sugar oatmeal with a little soft butter). It can get a little runny sometimes, so a little extra flour or cornstarch isn't a bad idea.

I tried this recipe when I lost my old standby. I couldn't agree more that this is the best apple pie out there. Lots of caramel sauce! I prefer a crumb top which worked well with this recipe. (1/2 c oats, 1/4 c brown sugar, 2 tbsp flour, 2 tbsp butter) I also followed the other suggestions of adding 1 tbsp. vanilla, a tsp of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg in the sauce.

Very good! I followed some other instructions. I cut down on the roux to 1/2 cup each of butter and flour. I used 1/2 chicken broth and 1/2 milk, and added 1/2 tsp each of onion and garlic powder. I didn't have any already baked potatoes on hand so I diced raw potatoes and boiled them in the broth first. I might use less sour cream next time. Overall great though! Very easy.
