My favorite things to cook
I love to bake different breads, quick-breads, pies and cookies. I accomplished my first cake in the winter of 2007. It was a Shoo-Fly Cake and my husband loved it! This winter I am learning to bake pies. My first pie was a Chicken Pot Pie and it was a delicious success! My husband is my official taster. He hasen't ever complained about this...so far. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Life in my family, especially at my Grandmother's house, as I was growing up, was always going on in the kitchen. That's where we all gathered to gossip, laugh, cry, and of course, eat. Isn't that where life is usually discussed and enjoyed anyway?
My cooking triumphs
I made my first successful white bread loaf when I was 16 years old. That same year I made my first meal for my family. I think it was grilled ham steak, rice and peas. I was encouraged from then on.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't really had a true cooking tragedy...yet. Just burned a few batches of cookies in my time. But who doesn't burn a few cookies or break a few pie crusts from time to time when learning on their own?
