Breakfast Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2007
This was really good and easy so I gave the recipe 4 stars, even though with the way I served it I would give it 5. The only thing I did different was make a package of instant Country Style Gravy and top the cake with it. I think that really made it.

Roasted Potato Salad with Balsamic-Bacon Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
I am the submitter of this recipe and I am sorry and should clarify. As per the other review, serve shortly after making, warm or room temp (another thing I love about this recipe, great for picnics and events because of not needing to keep cold) and as also stated, honestly, not good as leftovers. Sorry, but hope this helps future cooks.

Chunky Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 9, 2007
I am giving this 4 stars only because I added a few things to make this more flavorful, but after that it was most definitely a 5. I estimated on the milk and chicken broth (I buy the kind in the carton) and it turned out a little to thin, probably my fault. To thicken and add more flavor I added some crushed red pepper flakes, for some spice, seasoned salt, garlic powder, double the bacon, one pkg. country style gravy mix, and a few slices of provolone cheese. The gravy mix made it great and I would imagine any cheese you had on hand would work. After the changes my husband and I both thought it was the best potato soup/chowder that I have made, and that says a lot b/c I have tried many different kinds.

Arjun's Lime Chicken Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
I really enjoyed this recipe and will be making it often in the future. The only things I did differently, just to cut the cooking time down, was to use Uncle Bens Ready Rice with Brown and Wild rice. I then used just enough water and chicken stock to make it a little thinner than the consistency that I wanted (because it will thicken slightly). No need to boil the rice for the twenty some minutes. I also only used 1/2 of a lime and that was plenty since I wasn't boiling any extra off.

Avocado Feta Salsa

Wow! I just made this salsa and it is so great! I don't even know how it tastes after chilling in the refrigerator because it didn't make it that far.

Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
WOW! I was really impressed with this recipe. It was the best ham I have ever had and the best part is there was so little work. Just like in the other reviews people who usually don't like ham really enjoyed this. I used a roasting bag instead of a pan and it worked great. Don't expect to serve the ham by carving it because it falls apart. I went ahead and shredded mine before serving and I didn't even need a knife. So tender! I think nest time I will double the glaze because the shredded meat in the bottom of the dish I served it in that was just laying it the juice was the BEST!

Modenese Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
Definitely the best pork chops I've ever cooked. I didn't even think I would like the rosemary but I really did. Sauteing veggies in the leftover sauce is a must! They were as good if not better than the chops!

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
I made this recipe using more lime juice and substituted cilantro for the oregano and really liked it, I asked my husband to taste the chicken and see if he liked it and to tell me if he thought it needed anything. He wanted a little cumin and chili powder because he really likes the traditional taco taste. I added just enough to taste the spices but to also still taste the lime and cilantro and that was really good also. We even used the left over chicken the next day for breakfast adding eggs, corn, salsa and sour cream, then wrapped it in the leftover tortillas. That was so good, maybe even better than the dinner!

My Sausage Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
This was surprisingly good! I'm not even a big fan of sausage but I had some that needed eating and tried this recipe. Will definitely be making this again. I think the hot sausage is the way to go because I could see it being a little bland without it.

Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes

Everyone really liked these at Thanksgiving dinner. Instead of mixing the walnuts in, I sprinkled them on top along with brown sugar, coconut, cinnamon and graham cracker crumbs, then re-baked for 5 mins.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2006
If I could give this soup more stars I would. It is me favorite thing to eat...period! A friend gave me the recipe after making it for me and my husband and we now joke around that it is like crack because we are always craving it and wanting more! We both make this at least 2 times a month and I always make so much extra just so I can eat on it for days! I have passed this recipe down and everyone who has it also makes it a few times a month and loves it as much as I do. The tortillas (we like the hint of lime ones best), cheese, sour cream, and cilantro on top makes it!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
This recipe is so good. I made 24 servings for a party and thought I would have it left over for days, but at the end of the night it was all gone. Everyone kept coming up to me throughout the night telling me how great it was! I love that this recipe doesn't call for mayo like most, the Alfredo sauce is what makes it special.

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This recipe was a big surprise!! I gave it four stars only because I ended up adding seasoning salt, lemon pepper, garlic powder, pepper and a couple dashes hot sause. With the changes I give it 5 stars. I do not think it would have been as good without the extra seasoning, but with, it was great!
