I have been married to a wonderful man for 29 years we have 4 beautiful children and 3 grandchildren that I love to pieces. I love to cook for my family and extended family. I didn't start out as a good cook, but thank goodness I have a patient husband that would eat all my mistakes and never complain. He raves about my cooking now. I guess good things do come to those who wait.
My favorite things to cook
I grew up on good old fashioned comfort food and I still enjoy cooking it at times, but now we are trying to eat healthier. I also have a sweet tooth, and I love baking, especially cookies. I enjoy grilling or should I say marinating or preparing food to be grilled, because my husband or son usually do all the grilling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Between my husband and I we have a large extended family who mostly live close by, so we are always having get togethers for birthdays or holidays. We usually have potlucks so as not to burden the host/hostess. Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas are extra special. I feel blessed to be able to say we have always celebrated holidays together with family.
My cooking triumphs
I think of my triumphs as compliments that come back to me. My dad was a chef for 15 years so when he says I am a pretty darn good cook I know I have accomplished something.
My cooking tragedies
My first pot of chili. I went to the trouble of adding home made pinto beans (like my grandmas), but by the time my husband got home from work the chili had stuck to the bottom of the pot and burned. He ate two bowls and I couldn't even eat one bite. He still teases me about it.
