I made this soup for my Mom, who was suffering from a bad sinus infection. She loved it. The garlic really mellows after cooking in the stock. The only thing I wish I'd done differently is use chicken broth, rather than stock, as the stock was a bit overpowering. We added arugula from the garden to it...great.

Dilly Cucumber Salad

Excellent recipe. I followed it to the tee, except did not use sour cream. They were so good in the vinegar/sugar marinade, I didn't want to spoil the taste. I let them chill overnight. We ate them over the next few days. The previous reviewer complained about them being sugary: use 1/2 cup, rather than a full cup sugar. The result: tart, slightly sweet "pickles."

Cabbage Sloppy Joes

The addition of all the veggies and cabbage makes for a crunchier, less fattening sloppy Joe. I used a tad less brown sugar and a bit more Worcestershire and lemon juice, for a more savory flavor. It tasted even better the next day.

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Very tasty. I used Ghiradelli 60 percent cacao chips and 1 cup sugar, baked in a springform pan, no water bath. We couldn't wait, so we ate some after it had been refrigerated for about 3 hours. It was like fudge. The next day, it was more "cakey" but still very dense and delicious. I sprinkled it with powdered sugar. It would've been even better with just a swirl of raspberry, orange or even apricot sauce. Will make often.

Sweet-Sour Red Cabbage

Absolutely wonderful. Nothing gets lost in the mix. You can taste the tart vinegar, the sweet sugar, the heady cloves, the salty, smoky bacon. This is one of the best cabbage recipes ever, and I will make again and again. The only adjustment I made was to add four slices of bacon rather than two. Perfect!

Italian Taco Salad

A good basic recipe. I like that it uses mixed greens rather than iceberg, though iceberg lends that wonderful, cool crunch we associate with tacos. Add some chopped cilantro to this, and it's great.
