About this Cook
My mother never really cooked when i was a kid and when she did it was the same stuff over and over again. Since coming to college i have realized to a great degree my love of food, and especially the things i never ate growing up. Since realizing this i have also realized a great love of cooking and entertaining. Cooking is a hobbie you can eat and share with other people at the same time... it's definitely my kind of hobbie!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook with fresh everything; fresh vegatable, fresh herbs, fresh meat (when i use it), etc... I tend to lean more towards vegeterian meals. I like it when recipes have a lot of spices and herbs and lots of flavor!
My favorite family cooking traditions
There really aren't may cooking traditions in my family. I'm creating them as i cook i guess!
My cooking triumphs
Fruit tarts that rival those made by professionals! And one hell of a complicated but tasty cream of broccoli soup!
My cooking tragedies
I'm sure in the years i've been cooking or attempting... there have many, which i have convienently blocked from my memory!

Lemon Sugar Tea Cookies
Only change i made was what another reviewer suggested, i replaced the lemon extract with 1 tbsp lemon zest and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Everyone loved them!

Gingerbread Men
i doubled the recipe and it was wonderful! It made sturdy walls for our gingerbread house and it also made great cookies. I had to play with the time depending on the pieces, but it was a great recipe! they tasted delicious!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds
this is the second time i've roasted pumpkin seeds... the first time i would just as soon like to forget... this was much more successful! They turned out yummy! i essentially doubled everything but the Worcestershire sauce and used 2 1/2 cups of seeds. I backed at 300 for 1 hour and 6 minutes. And they were crisp, though a tab too salty for my taste. i'll be tweaking the recipe on the next batch (which will be today since we carved 10 pumpkins...)
