About this Cook
I am an ambitious cook, looking for things that will both challenge me and delight my taste buds. Also, I am looking to put together a menu for a restaurant that I will be opening within the coming years - the sooner the better! Anything with a tropical flair is what I'm looking for. I've already found many from this site and have tried a few. I'm trying to try at least one new recipe a week!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to make desserts! I know, that doesn't go with that "healthy" box that I checked in an earlier question, but, it's ok, it's dessert! I love to work with chocolate - molding, dipping, making clusters, etc. Also, I am a fan of making healthy food choices, and I am constantly trying ways to make those bads choices a little more healthy, while still being appetizing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's Mexican food is the best. I must say that cheating on my diet is warranted when it comes to our mexican food! While it's not exactly traditional, it's the best! Mmmm, now I'm hungry!
My cooking triumphs
My favorite meal I've ever had with my family would have to be the night my boyfriend (VERY much an amateur) and I made authentic Chinese food for 12 people on my Mom's b-day. What a mess! We had the best time, the food turned out GGGGGREAT! and my boyfriend learned how to make something other than mac 'n' cheese! Many laughs and memories. It's the best to cook for the ones you care about!
My cooking tragedies
My first experience cooking white rice - 11 years old. Too much water, same amount of cooking time - ICK! Pizza it was!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
VERY TASTY! I made this for my parents to eat when they got back from bowling league. They devoured it! My mom wasn't entirely sure what i was doing so she made rice and green beans and served the chicken over it instead of doing sandwiches, but both parents reported good things, which is rare! This made the house smell delicious! And, for the record, I used Kraft BBQ sauce and it was delectable! I did use about a 1/4 more Italian dressing, but more on accident than anythign eles (the pour spout on the bottle came out, so maybe it was more than that!). Anyway, I think I am going to serve bbq chicken sandwiches for super bowl! thanks.

Caribbean BBQ Sauce
This was very good! We used this on ribeyes on the grill because I was tired of the same old same old. Even my dad, who is the worst person in the house to feed, thoroughly enjoyed it. We found it was best when it was brushed on the meat as the meat is cooking instead of just pouring it on after. Very different flavor, very good. (BTW- I DIDN'T use black rum, I used gold, and it was still tasty! Oh, and a touch of coconut rum too.)

Anne's Hot Ham and Swiss Dip
This was very good, very tasty and good for something different than normal. I took this to a party and almost all of it is gone. It is SALTY though because of all the ham, but next time I will try to buy low sodium soup and see if I can't find something to cut the salt taste. But, all in all, definitely a winner! We will make this again, even if it's just for our family.
