Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
I would suggest cutting the apples into chunks and then a cup would be fine, but I used 2 cups of finely diced apples. I also did not have an egg once I started making these and I substituted 2 tbsp. of applesauce and the muffins still turned out great. They are moist, but I don't like mine dry.

Ragu® Upside-Down Deep Dish Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
This recipe was easy enough, but I used spinach in mine. The spinach tasted like dirt, but maybe it was just the brand I bought. I did use crescent rolls instead of pizza dough because that's what I had on hand. Everything but the spinach was yummy, but it doesn't taste like pizza. I think I would substitute pizza sauce for the spaghetti sauce next time, and maybe try it with the broccoli.

Bavarian Apple Torte

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
This recipe was not as good as I hoped. I did follow the recipe exactly except I precooked the apples in the microwave for about 3 minutes like other reviewers suggested and they turned out great. The filling, however, was the problem for me. It probably should only have one egg or one egg plus an egg white. The filling had a very eggy taste that was not appealing for me. I don't think I'll try this recipe again because of that. If you do make this recipe consider cutting down the egg or substituting it altogether. The dessert was beautiful, though, so I had high hopes for the flavor. Texture was good, just way too eggy as written.

Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
This recipe takes FOREVER to actually bake and become firm. It had to stay in the oven for well over an hour. I don't know what the problem was because I followed the recipe exactly. It tasted fine once I took it out of the oven, thought it is a bit bland. I even gave up and just took it out even though it was not totally firm, but everything was done. I would NOT recommend this recipe because it takes so long and the taste is not worth the effort.

Chicken Spaghetti II

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
This was delicious! It was really easy and it was nice using just one pot for dinner so there's not a lot of clean-up. I did just eyeball the Velveeta so there wasn't too much of it in the dish but it was still definitely cheesy. I will definitely be making this again.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Delicious! I loved the salsa but didn't do the homemade chips. I bought Flat Earth Apple Cinnamon chips to save time for a party. I was really easy and I would definitely make this again.

Corn Bread Hamburger Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
This was ok. I liked it and it was certainly easy and used only one dish, but there was something I wasn't crazy about as far as flavor. Don't think I'll make it again but I would recommend playing around with seasonings.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
The BEST chocolate chip cookie recipe! They come out big, fat, and chewy every time just like it says. They are big enough to share. My cookie-picky husband says they are the best cookies ever. I'll never use another recipe!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
This was delicious! I did season the meat as some others mentioned. I just added salt and pepper and it was great. I do think that the mashed potatoes were hard to spread so maybe next time I will add milk like I'm making regular mashed potatoes. Once it baked, though, it was fine. I also used Monterey Jack cheese because that's what I had on hand and it was very tasty. I will definitely make this again. It was a bit of work but absolutely worth it. Great comfort food.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
This was a good recipe. It is very versatile and you can add or delete ingredients as you like. I made it for a party and it was a hit. One tip, though, if you want to make it the night before it is easy to do except for the topping. The lettuce wilted and absorbed the salsa and didn't look quite as pretty but it still tasted good. Just put all the other ingredients in the dish and have your chopping done and add the lettuce, green peppers, and olives right before you serve it. Easy and pretty.

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
I used fresh chicken I cooked myself instead of the canned like some others recommended. I don't think it would be very good with canned. I also did them in a muffin tin as recommended by others and they came out absolutely beautiful! I thought they were pretty enough to serve for company! I'm only giving them four stars because I didn't think they had enough flavor. It seemed almost like too much cream cheese. I will try these again, though, maybe adding bacon and definitely more onion. Garlic is a nice idea as some others said they add. I would also try grating some fresh parmesan either in it or on the top until browned. Great recipe that seems very versatile and I love the idea of the crescent pockets that could be filled with just about anything.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
I was not crazy about these. I did use fillo cups instead of the biscuit dough but those tasted fine. I think it was the basil in the mix I did not like. It had a very strong taste and I couldn't even tell there was bacon in it but I used the amount indicated in the recipe. Don't think I will make these again.

Blue Cheese, Bacon and Chive Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Like some other reviewers I did not like the flavor of the blue cheese with the pork chops, but I do normally like blue cheese. It was very strong. I also suggest seasoning the pork chops with salt and pepper before stuffing because the cheese was not salty enough for me, just overpowering and the pork itself was a little lackluster with not much seasoning on the chop itself. I would try it again but not exactly as written.

Very tasty and easy to make. I used Blue Cheese because that's what I had and it was still very tasty. I added this to my regular rotation and it is nice to have something a little fancy for everyday meals.

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
The flavor of these was great but I overcooked the honey mixture a bit, but the recipe warns about that! I think I will try these again and not cook the honey and pecans too long. This would be great for chicken too!

Chicken and Cheese Crescents

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
The recipe says to pour half of the chicken soup mixture into the dish and then pour the rest later. I only used half and poured it in at the start then set my crescent rolls on top and it was not too soggy at all. I also made sure I sprinkled some of the cheese into the soup mixture and that caused it to thicken up as it baked too. Overall I thought this was a good dish. I used precut chicken tenders to wrap up in the rolls. They were a good size but I cooked them on the stove top. I think I will bake them next time.
