My cooking tragedies
I have had two cooking tragedies, and both were foods I love the best! One was when I tried to make a buttermilk pie to take to my future in-law's Thanksgiving dinner and the other was years ago when I made cornbread dressing for my boyfriend's Christmas dinner.
The buttermilk pie did not get done in the middle and "fell". I had to show up to the dinner with this flat, gooey, ugly thing in a pie plate! It tasted wonderful, but it was an atrocious looking thing! I have tried to make them since and the same thing always happens. I don't know if it is my oven or me that is to blame!
Then, in my one attempt to make cornbread dressing "like Mama used to make" it came out so dry that at the end of the meal my boyfriend, that I was trying to impress, said since he was sure I would not be eating any of that as left-overs could he take the rest to his hunting dogs!!
