I'm in college, studying to get my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Hopefully, I will be able to treat people with eating disorders, which is a very passionate subject to me. I spend a lot of time with my boyfriend in his apartment now and I'm attempting to learn how to cook really tasty meals. I'm still learning, but my meals have gone from pancakes to gravy-baked pork chops-- that's a start, right?
My favorite things to cook
Unfortunately, I adore sweets. Therefore, I've always been quite good at baking cookies, pies, and cakes from scratch. However, now I'm discovering that I really enjoy cooking "comfort food" (The Lady & Sons' cook book is my favorite resource) with the aid of lower-fat and lower-calorie products. A girl's got to watch her figure.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother makes the greatest pies in the world, hands down. My mother is strictly a roast-and-potatoes and casserole cooker, but she is a very good cook. My father has cardiomyopathy, which means that everything he eats has to be low-salt. My mother has taken it upon herself to go a little extra and experiment with different recipes for his health.
My cooking triumphs
Everyone asks for my chocolate chip cookies. Technically they're not my recipe, but I've made them so many times I definitely have a knack for them! Also, I was particularly proud of making a pizza from scratch, especially the dough.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make cheesy biscuits once. It's too painful to keep talking, so I'll stop...
