Valentino's Pizza Crust

This was just a little different from another crust I make but my husband said it was harder to manipulate. Is there not a recipe out there for a crust that can be tossed? Tasted great though!

Veggie Pot Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I used this as a basis for my pot pie. I used chicken broth since that's all I had and after all, the purpose of pot pie is to make one big meal out of lots of little things left over. I used a biscuit topping and this was a big hit! Thanks

Light and Fluffy!! I used these as a topping for pot pie and it turned out great! I left out the cream of tartar and added shredded cheddar. AWESOME!!

Creamy Carrot Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Very good and fun to make. I quadrupled the recipe but only used 2 cups of broth like many suggested and replaced a cup of the carrots for a cup of celery. I also added cayenne and maybe a bit too much, it was really spicy but I like a dollop (or more) of sour cream and that cuts the heat. I would have cut the dill in half, it kind of over-powered the soup. I think a covering of dill as a garnish would have been enough and more presentable.

Creamy Turnip With Paprika Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This was a great success! I made this with 1 lb. of turnips and 1 lb. of carrots because I needed to use up some things. I did not make the shallots and it was still wonderful, I served it with french bread which soaked up the soup nicely. This was an easy recipe, I didn't even have to shop for ingredients, and so much fun to make. I prepared the ingredients for the later steps while it sauteed. Can't wait to make it again and experiment with other veggies.

Chocolate Pie I

Delicious!! I used a different recipe for the meringue but the chocolate filling, which can double as homemade pudding, was great. The family raved over it.

Meringue II

This is AWESOME!! and my husband is questioning me for witchcraft after making it. I used it to top a chocolate meringue pie, I had some extra and made little drops of divinity. It tasted like toasted marshmallows. YUM!

Apple Puff Pancake

This is the perfect breakfast for Saturday mornings. The body of it was like a custard while the apples gave it a great balance of sweetness. I will be making this again.

Bodacious Brownies

I've never made brownies from scratch before so I went perfectly by the recipe minus the nuts and it turned out GREAT! A little cakier than I prefer but moist and BODACIOUS! And so easy, satisfied my craving for baking and chocolate.

Granny's Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
This turned out GREAT! I used a packet of mushroom gravy mix instead of the onion soup mix because that's what I had and it was wonderful. The tomato based sauce really makes this dish. I love mushrooms so I will add more the next time I make this. Super dish!

My niece used this recipe for her home economics project (I helped a little). It was wonderful!! The icing turned out great, it wasn't too sweet with just enough coconut. Perfect!

Paprika Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2007
This turned out great! I was hesitant about broiling the chops because I thought they would overcook and be dry, but they weren't. The pork chops themselves were quite moist and tender, and the topping was excellent. It had a nice German flair to it with the sauerkraut. A great new dish!

Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2007
Oh My Gosh this was an awesome pie!! I have never tried my hand at peach pie before, but I used some peaches from a tree in front of my apartment. I followed the recipe exactly, except I sprinkled the lemon juice over the peaches in a colander. I admit that I cheated on the crust, I made the bottom but used a roll-out for the top. I don't like pies that are too juicy or too sweet. This was perfect! I'm going to use strawberries next time.

Bran Flakes Muffins with Raisins

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2007
These turned out great! I didn't change much, I used less salt, turned the temp. down to 375 and cook time to 20 min. They are perfect...topped with butter while they're still hot, mmm. I did crush the cereal and then measured it so they were more dense, but still light and fluffy. A great way to use up that leftover cereal.

Acorn Squash with Apple

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
This is excellent. I love squash and this is a great recipe. I bet you could make it with sweet potatoes too. I didn't have any walnuts, but I added a few sliced prunes. Next time I will dice the apples because they were hard to stir in consistently. My 2 year old wouldn't try it (yet), but I loved it!

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
I have never made any kind of pudding before, so I didn't know what to expect. I followed the recipe exactly and was very disappointed when I got nothing but milk in the morning. Luckily, I was able to salvage my pudding by reheating it to a boil and then simmering. Once it is thick enough for the rice to float when spooned to the top, I put it back in the fridge to set. I then had some delicious rice pudding. So I will have to give 2 stars for instruction, but 4 stars for the finished product. I had a lot of fun making it and salvaging it. We're always learning and that's what I love about this website. Thanks!
