About this Cook
I am a transplant from Hawaii now living in Tacoma, Washington. Mother of three and grandmother of two. I love cooking and baking and have been told that I am really good. I love learning new recipes and making people happy through their tummy :)
My favorite things to cook
I am best known for my Lumpia (filipino springroll) and Chicken Katsu. Best known for Baklava which i got on this site. I bake and cook when I am the happiest in life, so I guess you can say I'm a happy cook/baker.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever someone is in town visiting or any thing to celebrate the family gets together and cooks a big family potluck. All dishes are prepared homemade. This past year summer 2007 we went for a visit with my in-laws from Tennessee and they were pleasantly surprised as how many different dishes there was to try as well as family members there. Needless to say our family loves to cook and bake.
My cooking triumphs
I have never really entered any real type of cooking contest other than the time I have entered at work. At store level I took 2nd for a watercress tofu salad. Everyone raves that I should enter my Lumpia but I always refuse but pass out the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
I would have to say that oneday I woke up from a nap and immediately decided to make brownies. Being I was half asleep I doubled up on the water by mistake and decided to just bake it anyways. Well I gave it to my neighbors and they said thats the first time I gave them something that didn't get ate in 5 minutes. I think they might of even thrown it out!

Pork Chops with Onions and Apples
This is a delicious recipe for pork chops if you are wanting something different from the ordinary pan fried. I should of took a picture as it was perfect with the homemade mash potatoes and fresh corn on the cob.

Frosted Cereal Bars
Great recipe for a different twist on the ordinary Rice Krispy Treats! Again I am testing recipes for our annual Breast Cancer bake sale going on for the month of October. The recipes I find on here are usually winners and reading what comments everyone posts on here are very helpful as I just tossed the chocolate chips on put the oven on to broil for about a minute or two then spread it gave it a nice looking topping instead of just plain one color brown, next time I might add in some white chocolate chips! Thanks for sharing!

Russian Tea Cakes I
Always loved Russian Tea cookies as I call them since I made them back in middle school about 30 years ago. I only had almonds so I used almond extract instead of the vanilla and it came out great with an almond taste instead. Made them for a breast cancer bake sale and I'm sure they will all be gone! Thanks for sharing.
