About this Cook
I'm married with 2 school-age boys. Almost every morning, I go out for a run to start my day. My best days are the ones I have planned out - meals included. I usually know what's for dinner a few days in advance.
My favorite things to cook
I mostly like quick, easy, healthy recipes. I tend to gravitate to the ones where most of the ingredients are either in my cupboard or typically on my shopping list.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has come to look forward to brunch every Sunday after church.
My cooking triumphs
I like to try one new recipe every week or so. Sometimes they are 'keepers' and sometimes they are not.

Persimmon Cookies II
Wasn't crazy about persimmons, but when you're in California and someone picks them off their tree and gives them to you, you've gotta try something! And glad I did - they make great cookies and this was a terrific recipe. Very cake-like. Only difference I made, was used whole-wheat flour, and crushed almonds, because that's what I had on hand.

Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Used 1/2 c oat flour & 1/2 c wheat flour. Omitted butter buds and vanilla. Used 1 whole egg, and added 1 tsp cinnamon. Mostly, because I am away from my home, and this is what I had on hand. About 11 minutes. Very good warm. Thanks for the tip re refrigeration. I would rate a 5, but need to see how they taste tomorrow.

Fresh Apple Cake II
Loved it! Great way to use extra apples. I cut oil a little and substituted some applesauce. Also did the butter/sugar/cinnamon sprinkle on top (suggested by another reviewer) instead of frosting. Will definately make again.
