I love being a mom and have also taken up painting and pencil drawings. I moved to Ireland from the states when I met and married my husband and so I am enjoying experiencing this new and very different culture, including the lovely food. I've also gotten a kick out of introducing foods to my husband and friends that they have never had very often or at all before (Mexican food for example). I love to hawk the recipes on this website, it's my favorite way to diversify our food experiences. I'm very grateful for this site and all the wonderful cooks out there who take their time to share food recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I'm in search of the perfect Indian recipes (well, both authentic Indian as well as the English versions of Indian). I also crave Mexican food often, which is hard to do properly here in Ireland as some ingredients are not available, but I'm in the process of making adaptations. I do love making desserts although I limit them to watch my diet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Love Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and most enjoy making cookies with my little son's help as it reminds me of when my mother made cookies - a special memory.
My cooking triumphs
The few Indian recipes I have perfected as well as some baking triumphs such as chocolate baklava.
My cooking tragedies
Writing down the amount of sugar incorrectly for a spiced cranberry nut bread (I put in way too little sugar) and then handed them out for Christmas thinking they were perfect. Ate one myself later and they were oh so tart!! I'm sure others were not so impressed with my amazing cooking skills..haha... or there is the time I tried broiling salmon the first time and didn't know about not putting oil too close to the broiler, which then started a fire in my oven..(skulks away in embarrassment)
