About this Cook
I'm a twenty year old student living in Florida while my husband finishes up at UF. We're expecting our first child in July. I'm from Michigan and plan to move back ASAP....awful ungodly weather in Florida.
My favorite things to cook
My Mama's stuff, the stuff I grew up eating. Greek spaghetti, kofteh, kibbeh, baklava, Arabic pizza. Home food, lol. It's also the only recipes that I actually follow the way you're supposed to. If it isn't my mother's recipe then I view the recipe more as a suggestion than instructions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All holidays should be rated on the basis of available food. My Papa's sage sausage stuffing and my Mama's sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving. My Grandma Nica's ham on Christmas. Tzaziki and galaktoboureko....delicious.
My cooking triumphs
I make good baklava, galaktoboureko, knafeh, enchiladas, pecan pie, chili, artichoke chicken. I make kickass spanakopita too.
My cooking tragedies
My banana bread where I forgot to put sugar in it...the tamale casserole that turned out soupy and inedible. Anytime I try and make cookies it's ALWAYS a tragedy.

Pie Crust V
My husband thought it was too much like a cookie for a pie crust so he wouldn't eat the pie at all. I actually didn't mind the crust and thought it was ok but maybe it's just a bit too rich for a sweet potato pie.

Banana Banana Bread
I added cinnamon, vanilla, and a little oil and water because the batter was initially too thick. The color and appearance wasn't very attractive and I would've increased the sugar another 1/2 cup. But it had a nice moist tender texture and definite strong banana taste. Definitely an unbeatable base recipe.

Reuben Casserole
PERFECT way to use up a leftover corned beef dinner. I replaced the sauerkraut with chopped cooked cabbage , then drizzled it with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Then everything else as written and it was SO good.
