About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything I can put in my crock pot!
My favorite family cooking traditions
As is in most families, my favorite cooking tradition is just to cook anything with my mother. She has a story for every meal that we cook together and they are all fantastic to hear. Additionally, once in a while I can get my husband to join me in the kitchen and he always keeps me laughing!
My cooking triumphs
Mid October 2005 was my first time baking an entire chicken and it was fantastic. Last year, I was able to make pastry crust that was actually light and flaky. And this year, I'm working on making dishes that are outside my normal genre of cooking (no more pot roasts for this gal for a while!). All in all, I'm making baby steps.
My cooking tragedies
I was teaching my friend how to make conqueso and I walked away for a little too long. When I came back she was scraping the bottom of the pot . . . leaving it a little 'smokey' flavored(or if you don't want to sugar coat it, just plain BURNT). I've also managed to 'deflate' many angel food cakes, crack the tops of a countless number of cheesecakes, charbroil garlic bread to the point where even the inside was unreckognizable as bread, and of course I have had several spouts of exploding meals. Fortunately I've come ahead in most situations because my kitchen is well equipped with a fire extinguisher and a phone to order takeout.

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish
We truly enjoyed this dish. We eat cabbage quite often and it was a nice change to how I normally cook it. Plus, you can add/subtract spices per personal tastes very easily so depending on what we are eating it with determines how much/little we add.

Gluten-free Peanut Butter Cookies
They are delicious, but you definitely have to make sure not to eat too many! I used them to make ice cream sandwhiches and they were fantastic, so thank you for the recipe!
