I come from a large family, we were always busy when I was a kid, but my mom always managed to have something on the table for dinner. We used to spend a LOT of time at my grandparents' house, as well as that of my great aunt. My Aunt Betty is probably my greatest inspiration for everything I do. The family culinary secrets I learned from her and my grandmother color most of my dishes, and the thought of the time I spent with them makes me smile.
I work as a barista at the moment, however, I'm hoping to start graduate school in January. Gonna be a librarian!
I love large cups of hot tea when it's cool, and always true to my adopted home of South Carolina, I love sweet tea. My biggest challenge has been adapting the dishes I know how to cook to the tastes of my boyfriend (who happens to be a picky eater).
My favorite things to cook
Czirke paprikas (anything Hungarian, really), bread, anything new.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's family is Hungarian, and I've been cooking for as long as I can remember.
My cooking triumphs
I made a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving one year. My boyfriend's brother is a chef and told me that it was one of the best he'd ever had!
I finally conquered banana bread! Huzzah!
My cooking tragedies
I can't cook tofu. I've tried over and over again and I just can't do it.
