Applesauce Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
I told my friends how good this is and they didn't believe me until they tried it for themselves. It's so easy! I use low-cal bread, unsweetened applesauce, and just spray down the skillet with cooking spray. This is great with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
These were great, fluffy pancakes! Changes I made were: I decreased the salt to 3/4 tsp, added 1 tsp vanilla, and used unsweetened applesauce in place of melted butter. These really were great! Thank you!

Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
This was great- I'm definitely making this again!! The only changes I made were that I double the amount of cranberries to 2 cups and used pecans rather than walnuts- that's all we had.

Won Ton Wrapper Appetizers

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
These were so easy and fun to make. They looked really appealing and tasted just as good! I used ground turkey spiced with sage, cayenne, pepper, salt, and ginger- to make it a little leaner. A little diced green pepper is really good too!

Eggnog French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
Instead of pumpkin pie spice, I just bought Pumpkin Spice Eggnog. I used whole grain white bread rather than French. My family loved this! It's a nice change of pace, and perfect for the holidays.

Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I brought this to the Christmas breakfast at our church and it was a hit! I cut my cream cheese in very small pieces and sprinkled some cinnamon on after each layer of bread. I read several reviews that said what to change, but honestly there's nothing I would do differently!

This was so easy, it's hard to believe it tastes as good as it does! This is a staple in our Christmas cookie jar.

Aunt Sally's Cocoa Drops

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
Wow! I made these for my church and they were delicious. I didn't have any walnuts, and not enough pecans, so I used sliced almonds, but I toasted them first. I mixed together a white icing and tinted it pink- so pretty! :) I loved how cakey these were.

Christmas Fudge

Decrease the sugar to 2 cups. I didn't use food coloring. Instead I folded in 1/2 c crushed peppermint candies and 1/2 tsp of peppermint extract. Yum!!

This worked great and looked so pretty! I made 4 recipes worth and colored each a different color. I frosted all my Christmas sugar cookies. Thanks! :)

Yum this is so yummy! I made it as part of the Christmas cookie plates for the neighbors. They'll love this! It was so easy- I didn't change a thing. (But I didn't use nuts.)

Spritz Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
Yum! I only used 2 egg yolks, because I wanted a thick consistency for my press. I also substituted almond extract for the vanilla and it made them very almondy! I loved them. I lowered the baking temperature to 350 degrees and they baked for about 8 minutes.

Classic Gingerbread Cutouts

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This made a beautiful gingerbread house! I used the template on this website and did the recipe exactly as it says to here. It made a gingerbread house and quite a few large gingerbread people. This was so easy and looks pretty. :) A note though: the frosting recipe is a good one, but it must be used fresh. If you're making your house over several days time, then just make enough of the frosting for that day.

Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I made this over Thanksgiving weekend for breakfast for my extended family, doubled. I was told that it tastes just as good with the crusts on, but it didn't with the bread I used. Some crusts got very crunchy, so I wouldn't recommend that. Even so, the taste was great! I'd love to make this again!!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
This was a beautiful cheesecake!! I followed the instructions, used a water bath, and had to increase the baking time a bit. I left it in the oven and was in a rush so I forgot to run a knife around the edge, which I would recommend you doing. It was pretty, but when I came home a couple hours later, I looked in the oven and it had a little crack in the center. I masked it with toffee bits and dark chocolate sauce. I made this for a charity event to sell (fortunately they sell by the slice and cut the cake strategically- no more crack!) and they loved it! I just wish I could try some- I'll definitely make this again!

Holiday Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
I made three 5x3 loaves and one 9x5. I decreased the sugar to 2 cups, put the juice of one orange in a measuring cup, and filled it to the 3/4 cup mark with water, added the zest of the orange, used 1/4 cup of vegetable oil and 3/4 cup unsweetened homemade applesauce, and used 2 cups of unbleached flour and 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour. It was so yummy! Using the orange juice and zest gave it a really good flavor. My whole family loved it! I didn't put nuts or raisins in it because I don't like them.

Puppy Chow

Yum- I love making this on movie nights. Sometimes I add about a teaspoon of vanilla. Once I didn't have any creamy peanut butter, so I used chunky. It works fine- but you'll have little peanut chunks coated in chocolate and powdered sugar down at the bottom of the bag.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This was a great recipe! I used it to frost "My Favorite Sugar Cookies". I divided it into 3 bowls and colored each differently. Some of it I put into plastic baggies with the tips cut off, and decorated the frosted cookies with that. It worked really really well. Our foreign exchange student and I had such a fun time frosting these! I got a lot of compliments on my cookies from when I brought them to a church dinner. :)

My Favorite Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
These were so yummy and chewy! I only had one egg, so I used one egg and 1/4 cup of Egg Beaters egg substitute. They seemed to turn out fine, but they need to be spread apart further than 1/2"- I only put 6 to a cookie sheet. (I rolled mine out to about 1/4" maybe slightly thinner) I brought them to a dinner for church and everyone complimented them.

Hot Vanilla

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
I used skim milk, and instead of the sugar I used honey. I didn't use quite so much vanilla, but maybe I'll use more next time. This was very good and made a great alternative heated drink to hot cocoa.
