I've lived in 3 continents - still got Africa, the Americas, the Arctic & Antarctica to go!! I'm originally from Malaysia, but life and my studies have taken me to Wales, Queensland in Australia and to Norway. I've finally settled here in Norway with my Norwegian husband and we're expecting our first little one this summer. I'm a qualified primary/elementary school teacher and look forward to beginning my career once I get my Norwegian down pat!
My favorite things to cook
Now that we're expecting our first child, I'm very interested in eventually making my own purees & baby food - when the time comes. I have always loved anything with cheese in it or on it! Slow-cooked food, Asian food, comfort food and meals to share with friends and family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
During holidays, special occasions and religious celebrations the kids (my sister, cousins and myself) would help prepare vegetables and mix ingredients whilst mums, aunties and my grandma would whip up feasts, which we all ate together with dads, uncles and male cousins - some of whom helped to cook. The food tasted so much better when cooking was a shared effort and eating was a shared experience. Hopefully I can do this with my own family one day.
My cooking triumphs
I turned a 'broken' moist chocolate cake (it literally broke into large chunks as I tried to remove it from the pan) into an indulgent dessert - I call it 'Chocolate Cake Tragedy' (STILL being reviewed by the allrecipes.com crew after almost 2 years!!)...hehe.
My cooking tragedies
See above - the broken chocolate cake. I probably forgot to grease and flour the cake tin before pouring in the cake batter. When I tried to turn out the cake, most of it fell out and broke into large chunks, whilst some was left stuck to the tin. Problem was, I'd promised my cousin I'd be bringing cake as dessert for her dinner party!!
