About this Cook
I am a live-in nanny/housekeeper for a dual military family in Alaska.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Marsala, desserts (all kinds)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Christmas cookies with my parents every year
My cooking triumphs
Pot Roast Stoup: thicker than a soup, but thinner than a stew, this stoup tastes just like Mom's pot roast: the meat is so tender it melts in your mouth, the carrots are hearty and done to perfection and the secret ingredient: a can of diced tomatoes rounds out the flavors
My cooking tragedies
none that I can think of...

Simmered Swiss Steak
This turned out great! I did make one minor change, though. I added two medium diced fresh tomatoes (mostly because I wanted to use them before the started to go bad) My family LOVED this recipe and asked to have it again soon.

Three Berry Pie
Great recipe! I did increase the cornstarch to 1/4 cup and dusted the bottom crust with a little cornstarch and sugar mixture. I've made it 2x and it's never lasted the night :D

Chocolate Cakes with Liquid Centers
I made this on Thanksgiving for the family I work for instead of pie and they LOVED it. I have had requests for it again in the near future. I did have to bake it a little longer than posted, but in the end, it was delicious! Here's a tip: instead of dusting with flour, use cocoa powder. It leaves the outside chocolate colored instead of white/flour-y.
