About this Cook
I love to cook! As a little girl, I spent a great deal of time watching my mother in the kitchen. She has always been my inspiration. She has a way of making the simplest things taste special. Cooking is my passion. I get excited about trying a new recipe. I love to collect and read, yes, read cookbooks. I read cookbooks before bed and sometimes I can't even get to sleep because I can't wait to get up and try a new recipe. Sounds like an addiction to me!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. I do especially enjoy baking and making candies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter are my favorite. Ever since I was little, I have always looked forward to stuffing, potatoes, and especially gravy. Not the meat so much, I'm more of a side dish girl. With gravy on everything!
My cooking triumphs
I was so proud of myself when I made my first Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was perfect, even the gravy (no lumps).
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at making cinnamon rolls was a complete disaster. The dough was so stuck to the counter, I had a hard time scraping it up, much less rolling it up! Needless to say, it went in the trash.

Hearty Breakfast Cookies
I have been making these cookies for a couple of years now. They are very filling and will actually hold a teenage boy over until lunch! I use buttermilk instead of water, add 1/2 cup ground flax seed, and replace raisins with chocolate chips(need something to attract the kids). Don't forget to flatten slightly because they don't really spread while baking. I bake mine for 18 minutes. Perfect!

Apple Turnovers
These turnovers were perfect. I skipped the lemon water bath and added a little vanilla to the filling. Next time I'll chop the apples into smaller pieces so they'll fit better inside the pastry. For a shiny, professional look, definitely brush with an egg wash before baking and cool completely before drizzling the glaze.

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler
YUMMY! I love a cakey cobbler. So much so, I think I'll double the batter next time. The only change I made was the addition of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. to the batter and also to the berries. I can't wait to try it with peaches!
