I am married mother of 2. My husband and I work in Youth ministry. It is a very fulfilling life.
My favorite things to cook
I never sample a recipe before I serve it at a family dinner or party. I just go for it like an adventure for the palate. except for red meat or pork we don't eat very much of for health reasons but I like to cook with veggies from the garden, bake pastries, like custard pie. invent new recipes and improve on the old. Potato salad is fun, I put just about any thing in it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving turkey, The coveted family "comfort foods" recipes are a must have. Yet which I will collect from aging family members.Summertime B-B-Q whether it be vegetables or meat, gotta experiment with flavor.
My cooking triumphs
oh, every time the flavor, texture, temperature turns out, that is triumph. Spaghetti pie. Chicken mango nachos, coconut prawns with mango chutney. I had been cooking the holiday turkeys in a apple maple recipe, but, wine brine I use now gets me rave reviews. My husband and family mention how moist and delicious the turkey is throughout the year. We didn't know we liked turkey!
My cooking tragedies
oh, I forget like, baking powder sometimes, and whenever I try to cook with coconut oil and milled flax instead of fat, it never turns out well. Lasagna is my enemy. 5 times in 5 years I've tried and failed. Chewy granola is elusive. I have yet to make one that does not crumble...
