I am a stay-at-home mom and live on a hobby farm with my family. We have ponies, chickens, barn cats, dogs and a few fish. My passions are doing bible studies and quilting.
My favorite things to cook
I used to be more of a gourmet cook until the kids came along. Now I do lots of casseroles and soups. I still love to bake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Weekend breakfasts. We like to have either fresh buttermilk pancakes or waffles. I keep buttermilk on hand for those items plus buttermilk biscuits, pie and salad dressings.
My cooking triumphs
When I was still single I had a waiting list of people waiting to be invited to my dinner parties. I had one every third Friday evening. It was alot of fun.
My cooking tragedies
I started cooking the entire family dinner when I was 7. There were 6 of us. Once when I was making meatloaf using the recipe on the back of the oatmeal box I got confused with the recipe for oatmeal cookies and put brown sugar in it. It was very sweet! Also when I was 7 I was making scalloped corn and needed 1/8 tsp of pepper. I didn't know my fractions yet so I asked my mom but misunderstood her and used 1/2 and a 1/4 tsp of pepper; needless to say it was very peppery!
