About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking Mexican foods, comfort foods, and any desserts. My favorite thing is to have my house smell appetizing the moment you walk in the door.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies with my mom, and now with my kids. My chocolate chip and cranberry oatmeal cookie recipes are sought after by friends and family, and I like supplying ample amounts at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Baking 350 cookie "suckers" with my mom and maid of honor the day before my wedding. The biggest triumph here was not eating so many that we could fit into our dresses the next day ;o).
My cooking tragedies
Breaking my favorite Pampered Chef mini loaf pan in two. But now I have two small mini loaf pans :>)! Also, not being willing to try recipes with a long list of ingredients. I bet they taste good, but if I can't use a spice/ingredient in several recipes I just won't buy it.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust
Very flaky pie crust. For those who've commented that this crust is too crumbly before baked...it is supposed to be. Otherwise, your crust will not be flaky. Do not be turned off by this; just be patient. I do live in an arid environment so I had to add a small amount of extra water (use a water bottle to spritz - think Alton Brown) maybe equivalent to 1 1/2 teaspoons since my flour is on the drier side. I am glad I read the reviews as this DOES NOT make four crusts. You do have to work to get three out of this recipe. Keep this in mind when planning.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie
I am not big on pumpkin pie, but I can't seem to find fault with this one. I actually keep coming back for more!

Easy Turkey Gravy
I made as directed minus poultry seasoning, salt and garlic powder (I roast my turkey with garlic). Add the flour to cold milk to avoid lumps, and pour straight into hot broth / soup mixture. Tasty. Only add salt if you plan to roast your turkey without salt.
