Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Turned out dry and unflavorful. I'll stick to my Mom's recipe and just attempt to adapt it for a slow cooker.

Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
First, I still have yet to officially bacon wrap these. I keep forgetting the bacon until I'm half done cooking everything. However, the burgers themselves are still delicious. My husband has requested that I make them this way every time. The bacon just ends up being an optional side.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I first made these with no changes other than adding an egg to make the brownies more cake-like (my husband prefers that). Awesome. My husband said they were the best brownies he'd ever eaten. The second time I changed the 1 1/2 cup sugar to 3/4 cup sugar/splenda mix because my father is diabetic and I wanted him to taste them. I think next time I'll increase the sugar/splenda mix to 1 cup because they weren't quite sweet enough. Besides that, they were still delicious.

Mexican Rice II

It was alright for a quick fix. I think I'd like to add diced tomatoes and additional seasoning next time.

Hugh's Dry Rub

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This was too spicy for my taste. I was looking for a rub that was more standard like what you would receive at a restaurant.

Cheesy Italian Tortellini

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
This recipe was wonderful. I took the time to make the marinara sauce using the "Best Marinara Sauce Yet" recipe on this site. Cutting the serving size on the marinara recipe in half created the perfect amount needed for this recipe. I used Johnsonville Italian Sausages with Sweet Basil (it takes 2 to equal 1/2 lb). I wasn't sure how I like this recipe after mixing everything up in the morning, but it turned out delicious. I don't like mushrooms but I ate them without noticing. My husband and 1 1/2 yr old daughter give it two thumbs up.

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
I made a 1/2 batch because I needed Marinara Sauce for the Cheesy Italian Tortellini recipe. When I tasted it by itself, it seemed a little lacking. When I used it in the other recipe, it ended up working wonderful and the tortellini came out great.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
I halved this recipe since I'm only feeding my husband and daughter. After reducing the serving number, I did the following: used only 3 chicken breasts, sliced them into strips, used the whole can of diced tomatoes instead of the 2/3 it listed, and upped to herbs slightly to counteract the extra tomato. I enjoyed it. My husband didn't like the chicken but that's only because it's breast meat. I'll make it again the same way and use dark meat instead.

Brownie Snack Cake

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
I wanted to find a delicious brownie recipe that was moderately healthy as well. My husband is a chocolate fanatic so I hoped this was a good way to deal with his cravings. He didn't like them. He attempted two different times to eat them and said they were weird. I didn't mind them so much which is the only reason I gave them three stars. Previous postings are correct. These are not brownie-like, but they aren't cake-like either. They have a strong flavor which I can't say is chocolaty or rich; it's just a strong flavor of cocoa and oil. I don't think I'll make these again unless I don't want to share.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I loved this recipe. I am not a bell pepper fan but it didn't matter. I used one red bell and one green bell and followed a previous poster's advice of adding it about an hour before I served the dish. It may be a little too sweet for some people, but it was A+ with me.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Thought the recipe was delicious. I don't like fish but my husband does so I try to find a few recipes he can enjoy. He loved this one. The onlyt hing is that with the temp and the time cooking, it almost burned. I'll keep the temp a little lower next time.
