Milk Chocolate Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
I thought the chocolate would melt and spread across the crust but instead it stayed in chip form. It was not that appealing to me or my hubby. I will look for another chocolate pecan pie recipe.

Cavatini II

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
I used my own homemade sauce which is 1 can tomato paste, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1/2 can water and 1 teaspoon each of basil, oregano, garlic, sugar and a few red pepper flake.I increased the amount of pasta to 2 cups of each along with adding a lb of cooked hamburger. We relly liked it. The different shaped pasta were kind of fun.

Old-Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
This is close to a recipe I used for years which I had found trying to match my grandma's salad. It was close and so is this one. I did change one thing; instead of sour cream at the end I used real mayonnaise, the kind from a jar not home made. The dressing is great. I always add lots of boiled eggs to my salads as well. It was nice to find this. Thanks.

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

We really like this dish. I did use 2 cans of souo and a bag of frozen broccoli spears plus some sauted onions. I mixed the package of dressing mix with water and butter as per the instructions on the box. Next time i will use double the dressing and still follow the box instructions. Comfort food at its best!!!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Now I have done this twice with different size roasts. Both turned out very nicely. I did put temp up to 400 for first hour on the second one since I saw that in another recipe. I wonderhow it will work for a very large roast. I will try that next.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Gee I made these this afternoon and they are delish!!. As I now review the recipe I notice that I forgot the shortening. I also added all the little bits of nuts and chips I had so I ended uo with macadamia nuts, pecans, white chocolate chunks from a white chocolate bar, skor pieces and chocolate chips. I think I will do it this way from now on but I will try to remember the shortening LOL although they were fine without, no spreading and not too floury.

This was good. The 2 egg meringue was a little skimpy. I will use more egg whites next time

Kay's Frozen Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Just like I remember. My mom used to make this for holiday meals and she was the only one who "loved it". Now I do too. I did forget to put in the marshmallows after I made my hubby search several stores for them. I will have to try again and remember the marshmallows although it was excellent without.

So delicious!! I did omit the wine but it was still crisp on the outside and so tender inside. We loved it.

Jill's Sloppy Joes

This was a spicy sloppy joe, good, but not the taste I remember from church suppers of the mid 60's. I will keep looking.

Pineapple Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
This was pretty good but needs a little zip. Maybe I will try a little worcestershire or horseradish next time. It did form into a ball and looked great. The celery added a nice crunch. Hy hubby and daughter didn't care for it.

Easy Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
I find it so irritating when someone completely changes a recipe and then gives a mediocre review. Here I am having changed the recipe but I am giving a positive review. As some suggested I switched the amounts of broth and tomato sauce, then I didn't hsve any beans except for a can of pork and beans which I used. I then used elbow macaroni for the pasta. My husband, the soup lover, liked it a lot. It would be better with the beans in the recipe but much to my surprise the pork and bean worked OK. Thanks for the good recipe.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
I made this for dinner for hubby and myself and we both loved it. He is not a vinegar fan so I added that part later to my serving which worked fine. I used more flour and more chicken since I had thawed quite a few breasts. It worked out fine. I loved the flavor of the thyme. It added just the right touch. I might add some canned tomatoes next time making it kind of like chicken chasseur. Fresh mushrooms are a must. Thanks for a great recipe.

I made this for supper tonight using turkey kielbasa and red onion and canned sliced mushrooms. My husband had never had grits before and he watched as I put this dish together. He wasn't too enthusiastic about it but loved it after tasting. He had two helpings and wants me to make it again. I liked it too. It wll be interesting to try the leftovet grits tomorrow.
