Here I am after halibut fishing.
About this Cook
I now teach piano and have about 35 students. My daughter went away to university this year and it is now just my husband and me and the pets.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook things that have a lot of flavor. I like variety. I have a friend who shares this joke with me, "There is nothing that a little more butter won't make taste better."
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am known to have over 30 people for dinner on special occasions. To me it is not a holiday unless there is a big group. I guess that comes from growing up with 3 sisters and a brother. Now we do not have the big groups over and I cook too much. I need to adapt to a new lifestyle
My cooking triumphs
I made a dinner monthly for a ladies church group of 40 for over two years and planned and prepared dinner for over 250 for church parties on many occasions.
My cooking tragedies
My mother-in-law brought me a duck and a recipe for duck l'orange. So I invited some distant relatives I hadn't met for dinner and made the duck following the recipe faithfully. When silence descended around the table after people took a bite I tasted it and realized the recipe said 1 cup lemon juice not 1 cup orange juice.Wow what a shock to the palate.

Swiss Chicken Casserole II
We really like this dish. I did use 2 cans of souo and a bag of frozen broccoli spears plus some sauted onions. I mixed the package of dressing mix with water and butter as per the instructions on the box. Next time i will use double the dressing and still follow the box instructions. Comfort food at its best!!!

Foolproof Rib Roast
Now I have done this twice with different size roasts. Both turned out very nicely. I did put temp up to 400 for first hour on the second one since I saw that in another recipe. I wonderhow it will work for a very large roast. I will try that next.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies II
Gee I made these this afternoon and they are delish!!. As I now review the recipe I notice that I forgot the shortening. I also added all the little bits of nuts and chips I had so I ended uo with macadamia nuts, pecans, white chocolate chunks from a white chocolate bar, skor pieces and chocolate chips. I think I will do it this way from now on but I will try to remember the shortening LOL although they were fine without, no spreading and not too floury.
