About this Cook
I am a stay-at-home mom of an adorable 15 month old little boy, Lucas. I have a wonderful husband, Joe, who I have been married to for almost 3 years. We've been together for almost 7.....wow, how time flies!! :) I began cooking when I was probably around 5 years old, thanks to my mother. She would have me help her and show me different techniques on how to chop, or coat a baking pan. She was always trying new recipes with exotic ingredients, so naturally I do the same. It's alittle tough when you have a experimental palate. but your husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. He's slowly expanding his horizons, when it comes to food.
My favorite things to cook
Some of my favorite things to cook would be anything Italian. I love pasta, and you can pretty much put whatever you want on some noodles and it'll be tasty. Also, pasta is always a hit with the hubby. :) I also love to bake. I find it so fun to take so many ingredients, put them together and create something so pretty. Baked goods give the house an amazing aroma, and then seeing the golden brown crust gives you a comfy feeling. I've also been on an Asian kick, where I'm getting authentic ingredients and experimenting. Fortunately, my husband is really liking then Asian dishes that I've made, but if you ask him what he wants for dinner.....he'll say pizza or a burger. :) ha ha
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm Italain and Hungarian, so of course, I had a lot of pasta growing up and it's a staple in my family. The Hungarian side is alittle more complicated. We have recipes that have been handed down at least 5 generations from Hungary, and they're a entire day process. Stuffed Cabbage, Stuffed Peppers, and of course Goulash. At Christmas time, we always make Kolach and Kiflis...I finally attempted them by myself this year.
My cooking triumphs
I am most proud of making Hungarian Kolach and Hungarian Kiflis this past Christmas. I had always helped make them when I was a kid, but this year I did it all by myself. Once I got into a rythum with the cookies, they turned out great. Another triumph was my son's 1st birthday. I had about 30-40 people there, in which I cooked for. I made appetizers, the best salad I have ever made, large pans of homemade lasagna, and an amazing pumpkin cake.
My cooking tragedies
I tried making Italian meatballs, but instead of baking them as usual, I decided to fry them in a pan. They we cooking up fine, but then I decided to toss them in some Balsamic vinegar. This sounded like a good idea, but the vinegar bagan to burn quickly. The meatballs we're alittle cruchy and tough.

Elvis Cookies
These were very good cookies, and it got a ton of compliments. My 18 month old toddler couldn't stop grunting for more of these. The Elvis cookies will definitely become a regular in our house!
