About this Cook
I am 43 years old. I have two daughters, 22 and 19. My 22 year old is married and already quite a cook herself. The 19 year old is still learning but very interested. I have been married almost 25 years. I am a paraprofessional for special education at our local high school. I am a member of my church, Free Chapel, since 1980.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking cakes, pies, cookies, southern biscuits. I like different chicken dishes. Mexican and Italian are my families favorite. Also good old southern, country cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have many of my grandmothers recipes. I also like to collect recipes from my friends family recipes. Every year at Thanksgiving and Chhristmas, I make my grandmothers cranberry salad. It wouldn't be the holidays without this dish which has been handed down from my great grandmother.

Oatmeal Whole Wheat Quick Bread
Our students in our "Life Skills" class at Gainesville High School has made this recipe several times. We all like it alot, but the last time we made it, we spooned the batter into a muffin tin. It was delicious! The bread was softer and more tender. Maybe because it wasn't handled at all. We also added dried cranberries to give it a little sweetness. We love this bread! It is a great, healthy snack.
