About this Cook
Between the age of 18-40 I was able to live in different countries around the world from Italy to Turkey to India and enjoyed learning how to cook traditional recipes from all these places. My family loves the variety of our meaalthough we all have our favorites like tacos and any kind of pasta.
My favorite things to cook
Many favorites, hard to pick, Indian curried chicken, Italain lasagna, Turkish Eggplant parmesan, Greek salad, American sphagetti, Puerto Rican arroz con pollo to name a few.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Roasted lamb made into Iskender Kebab with a rich tomato sauce and melted butter for birthdays. Roast turkey with all the fixings at Thanksgiving and a new twist to a standard meal.
My cooking triumphs
My fist attempt at homemade gnocchi was a delightful success. I had some potatoes that had sat for quite some time and need to be used. I learned later that this might have been part of the reason as the dough is easier to work with when the potatoes are not so fresh and fill of extra water.
My cooking tragedies
I know there must be some but can't think of any right now. Always try to dwell on the positive.

Grandma's Gnocchi
As a gnocchi lover I have been searching for the best recipe, this is just a tip or observation - if you bake the potatoes instead of boiling them it is much easier to achieve the consistency you desire without adding too much extra flour. I bake the poatoes in the microwave just using the baked potato button and then follow the rest of the recipe as it and it comes out fantastic.
