About this Cook
I'm a wife and mother of three young boys with another on the way. We enjoy healthy, fresh, organic foods and using them in traditional recipes!
My favorite things to cook
Meals that can be put together in one pot or dish to cook, bake, or simmer, filling the kitchen with the scent of warmth and spice.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My cooking includes German, Puerto Rican, Ukrainian, and Moroccan family cooking traditions! We love to mix together our heritage cooking with fresh produce from the garden and healthy flavor. I started cooking at age 3, standing on a stool next to my German grandmother. She always spoke half-German, half-English as we cooked and never told me exact measurements. We baked lots of things apples and berries from the garden from apple cakes to raspberry pancakes.
My cooking triumphs
I use a traditional Moroccan pottery tagine pot from Marrakech to make all kids of non-Moroccan foods, even some German casseroles and to cook baked beans while camping over open coals. It's a versatile piece to my kitchen!
My cooking tragedies
Early in my cooking experiences I once tried to impress my family with homemade brownies but I forgot to put in the egg and ended up with a black, rock hard tray sitting on the back porch and a very smoky kitchen.

Apple Crisp III
This is an excellent recipe! I had a lot of apples to use up from my father's apple trees and I needed to use them quickly. I made multiple batches of this recipe because we enjoyed it so much AND it is so quick and easy to make that my 6 year old and 9 year old sons did a couple batches themselves. Modifications: I used closer to 5 cups of apples. YOU CAN EASILY USE LESS SUGAR, even with an increase in apples! I also made this a few times substituting honey for part of the sugar.

Seven Layer Taco Dip
This was so delicious!! I was skeptical if it would be really tasty or not, because it seemed so fast and simple. It is not too good to be true! It is EASY, FAST, and DELICIOUS! I'm bringing this to the next cook-out. Just a tip, we use authentic, thin Mexican tortilla chips made at a local Hispanic bakery. They are too thin for this hearty dip. Go for the sturdy grocery store tortilla chips!

South African Yellow Rice
Super Delicious! So glad I tried this recipe! I used Sucanat instead of sugar, in the same qty listed. I also used some vegetable broth for some of the water and added a handful of cashew nuts. Yum! This will be on our table again!
