Butternut Squash and Turnip Soup
First off... I think I have "reviewed" maybe one other recipe in all the years I have belonged to allrecipes... and I look at recipes everyday... we are a large family of 10... so I cant say I followed it to a t...hehehe I filled my large stock pot! I followed advice from others and pureed it towards the end... and I added a pkg of cream cheese to the stock... everyone liked it... even my 2 yr old... We grow 80% of our food so it was a great way to use up winter squash and turnips... and rutabagas... lol nothing better than soup in the winter... :)

Oven BBQ Ribs
This is one of my family favorites. It does not matter if its ribs or what we call "farmer ribs" (no bones). I like the sauce coming from scratch and not out of a bottle. I did substitute the ketchup with tomato sauce that we can ourselves. I leave out the hot sauce and use our canned tomatoes with peppers instead, so I think the kick is the same. My family LOVES this, and ribs is about one of the last things they want, even if the meat was raised by us and all organic. We don't keep beer around, so I have used really good beers and have borrowed a cheap one from a neighbor. It still turns out great. My children thank you. :)

Fluffy Pancakes
This has become staple in our home. We live very rural and raise 80% of our own foods. Using mainly organic ingredients, you can add many things to these. We don't use shortening, but butter. Fresh or frozen blueberries, strawberries, loganberries, etc. Carob chips are a favorite weekend treat as well. We do not use canola oil to cook anymore. We use a little rice oil in the bottom of the griddle for cooking. I normally quadruple the amount so that some go into the freezer for the kids on cold mornings before school. To fluff them even more, use duck eggs instead of chicken. They come out even more rich like a dessert.
