Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

OMG...these were delicious while they were still warm, I was ready to give them 10 stars. However, the next day, they just didn't have that same texture. It could have been my fault though. Instead of using butter, I used the butter flavored Crisco and I didn't have the regular instant vanilla pudding so I substituted the Sugar Free. This is an excellent recipe though and it definitely deserves 5 stars.

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

I spent 3 hours in the kitchen this morning so I would have the perfect BBQ Chicken Sandwich. I started with the homemade buns, and then worked on the BBQ Chicken and then I used Paula Deen's Coleslaw Recipe for the topping. The sandwich looked like a 5 star sandwich when I was finished with it. It was good too, but was way to sweet for me. It just boils down to personal preference, and I like BBQ spicy and not too sweet. If you prefer a sweet BBQ sauce you will really enjoy this recipe.

Pillow-Soft Dinner Rolls

May daughter talked me into making these because she said they would make a good sandwich roll. I made them according to recipe and as far as a sandwich roll goes, they held up well. Not what I am looking for though. There is a little sandwich shop in our town that make homemade bread for their sandwiches and it is the best ever. I am still searching for that perfect recipe, and they refuse to share their secret. Anyway, my husband had these with butter and said they were very good, but I will stick with my ole standby for homemade rolls.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

These were okay, but I will not make them again. I did made them exactly by the recipe. I do agree that 375 is too high to cook these. The crust was okay but a little chewy around the edges, and the filling was fine, but browned very quickly. I sat the timer for 20 minutes and they were very brown on top when I took them out. As far as flavor, I did not think that they were too sweet, but would have liked them a little more tart, maybe they just needed more lemon juice. They are good, just not one of my favorite recipes.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Oh what a disaster I had with these. I decided to do the dough in my bread machine and followed the recipe exact. When the dough cycle was over, the dough was so wet that I could pour it out of the pan, and the yeast was still setting on top. So, I poured it into a bowl and added flour to get it to a thicker consistency and also to blend in the yeast. Believe it or not, they actually turned out pretty good and my husband actually had 5 of them for lunch. I will stick with my old faithful recipe though and continue to mix my rolls by hand.

Spicy Honey Mustard Pork Roast

It may not be fair to rate this recipe because I used Pork Chops instead of the pork roast. (I was thinking about doing a pork roast for Easter and wanted to try the sauce before springing it on my family.) I also substituted the Dijon mustard with spicy brown mustard, so that may have made a difference in the flavor of the sauce. Also, the recipe called for 2 Tablespoons of black pepper and I thought that was too much and I used only 2 Teaspoons of the black pepper. Now I know that 2 T was too much. I did not care for this recipe and out of 3 I tried, this was my least favorite.

Herb Roasted Pork

I followed the recipe exactly except that I used pork chops instead of the pork loin so I could see if I liked the flavor of the sauce (I was thinking about doing a pork roast for Easter). First of all, I didn't have enough rub for the pork chops, much less a roast, so I would definitely double the rub if making a roast. I did like the flavor of the sauce, but the recipe is not good enough that I would make it again.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Delicious. I bake this bread at least once a week and it is so easy to make. I do mash the bananas instead of slicing them and I use pecans instead of the walnuts. My daughters are always wanting me to make them a loaf but most of the time my little 87 year old Dad gets it. Again, this recipe is perfect.

Bev's Chocolate Pie

I thought this pie was delicious and so did my family. The filling is much like a Chocolate Chess Pie recipe that I have, but adding the meringue on top, took it up another notch. Also, I have so much trouble making cream pies because the pie crust shrinks up on me when baked first. Baking the filling in the unbaked pie crust worked perfectly. I did not use the meringue recipe attached to this recipe, but substituted it with the Meringue II recipe from this site, which is an excellent recipe too.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Asian Lettuce Wraps

This recipe was very good, but I had one small problem. I could not find Bibb or Butter lettuce at any of the stores in our area and so I bought Leaf Lettuce instead. The Leaf Lettuce did not work at all. How dissappointing. The meat had a very good flavor though and my daughters and I thought we might try it in some egg rolls.

Asian Orange Chicken

I had a little Mother/Daugters Party and served this dish. My daughters and I thought it was delicious. We did have trouble with the coating coming off of the chicken though,and I did pour it over the chicken after it was cooked, as others suggested. We have decided that next time we will buy the popcorn chicken and just make the sauce.

German Apple Pancake

I made this exactly as the recipe called, no alterations. It has the texture of custard, so if you don't like custard, you probably won't like this. The nutmeg was a little strong for me and my husband, but all in all, it was good. I might make it for a special occasion, but just for breakfast we will stick to regular pancakes.
