The Hoodlums
About this Cook
I am a wife and mother of three young children. I am always searching for a family friendly recipe that will be quick to throw together, easy on my wallet, and loved by all. Not too much to ask right?
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Italian foods, my grandfather was from Sicily and my dream is to visit Italy someday. For now though, I have to settle for cooking the foods. And drinking the wines, of course!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have any, I know this is terrible, but my kids are young and I hate (I know, I'm cringing as I type it) to have them in the kitchen while I'm cooking. I do aspire to get over this and allow them to help me someday, I know they would love it, I on the otherhand, am not feeling the love.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime my BFF comes over and loudly proclaims, "OMG, Sara, this is AMAZING!!!" How can you not just love that?
My cooking tragedies
UGG...once my husband caught a catfish and I proclaimed "I can cook an amazing catfish, I'm sure...this will be delicious!!!" So I cleaned it up, soaked it in milk, and prepared a woderful recipe from allrecipes.com. We invited people over and waited as the house filled with a wonderful smell. Then we all took a bite, spit it back out and I said, "Who wants pizza?". It was nothing but fat, and so disgusting!!! Not to mention the humiliation.

Abbey's White Chocolate Latte
I'm not much for measuring so I just threw everything in the pan and whisked it together (minus the cream since I am out) but this is a fantastic latte. A bit on the sweet side, I could have left out the sugar, but still an excellent drink for a cold Wisconsin, winter night.

Pesto Scrambled Eggs
I personally like the idea of fresh parmesan instead of cheddar and next time I will cut out most of the oil and add some onion. As far as rating it goes though...I served this to my 8, 5, and 3 year olds on top of garlic bread as a breakfast for dinner meal. They loved it and I pleasantly listened to moans of "Mommy this is delicious!" coming from all three of them. My very picky husband said, "I think you found a winner here." so I will definately be making it again. It was a quick meal and everyone loved it.
