Cooking has been a big part of my life. Some times even for work. Now that I'm a mom of two, I enjoy more when I cook for my family and friends.
I also love to try new things.
My favorite things to cook
Latelly I've been experimenting with Indian food, baking and making cheese!
When I lived in Mexico I had a great opportunity to learn some of their traditional recipes, and to apreciate the contemporary Mexican Cuicine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
And off course, being Colombian, I love traditional dishes like: Ajiaco, Sancocho, Tamales, Sobrebarriga, Arepas, Enyucado, and more. I'll be traying to add some of my favorite recipes in the future.
My cooking triumphs
For thanksgiving I made the best batch of mozzarella cheese so far. It was moist and creamy. I also made a very yummy curry pumpkin soup, that everybody enjoyed.
My cooking tragedies
My worst cooking experience was two weeks after my first doughter was born. I put rice in a pot, and set it to simmer for 20 minutes. In the mean time I ran out the house with my doughter to run a quick errand. When I came back the air was hazzy, and the neighbors were walking towards my house. Then I heard the fire allarm going, and realized that the haze was smoke raising from my kitchen. I ran into the house and found the pot with the rice completely charred! I had turn down the wrong knob! All the time the pot had been on Hi! Luckly nothing cought fire. It was just a big scare for me, the new mom, and I couldn't stop crying for about an hour. My neighbors were very nice and gave us food for that night.
