About this Cook
I'm a stay at home mother to two beautiful crazy kids that keep me on my toes constantly. My son will be three in June (08) and my daughter will be two in October (08). I am also a member of the Missouri National Guard!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that tastes good. Right now I'm in a rut where pretty much anything just tastes like food and the only reason I eat it is to survive.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up we didn't have many traditions. I started cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners when I was about 13 because for some reason my mother always seemed to get sick on those days. Now that I have kids of my own we are trying to come up with traditions to start with them. This past Christmas my son helped me make cookies to give away. Though all but four of them got eatten before I had a chance to give them away :D. I guess we need to work on "sharing."
My cooking triumphs
Anything that I can get the whole family to eat.
My cooking tragedies
Growing up my dad always requested I make biscuits and bacon gravy. It was my specialty. For some reason once I decided to "experiment" and used seasoned salt in my gravy instead of regular salt. I didn't add much but all you could taste in the final product was garlic. YUCK! Now anytime I mention gravy my dad has to make sure I didn't "experiment" again!

Silver White Cake
I found this recipe to be wonderful. The key is mixing the dry and wet ingredient seperate then mixing until just combined (dont overmix). Then making sure your egg whites, bowl, and beaters are very cold. Also, when beating egg white you have to use a metal or glass bowl or they will not set up no matter how much u beat them. It's also very important not to mix the egg whites into the batter. Instead fold them in slowly. I have made this recipe several times and the end result has always been the same. Very light and tender cake!!! A++++++
