mommy to two little ones so fast recipes and slow cooker stuff is always wonderful! and of course anything yummy i can involve my kids in making works well! and my hubby loves hearty foods that fill him up and make him whole after a hard day at work, which means that im always challenged to get healthy, fresh stuff in there too.
My favorite things to cook
i love, love, love mexican food and could eat it everyday!!! i also developed a love for moroccan while living in vegas (i know your going WHAT??? i dont get it moroccan in vegas???). our family is lucky enough to have a daddy who works from home about half of the time so big family breakfasts around the table happen almost daily. i am a total 'bake-ette' and always have some goodies on hand, pie, breads, cookies- always something good. you'd think we weighed a ton but we dont.
My favorite family cooking traditions
mmmm... my mothers chicken continental (this sites recipes are nowhere near as good), her pot roast and biscuits and gravy. my grandmothers chicken and dumplings and cobblers, my aunts thanksgiving dinners and macadamia nut pie.
My cooking triumphs
my baked beans. they are a recipe of a friend which i added a couple of key ingredients from my mom and aunt. my beans are now requested over my aunts, mothers and grandmothers for family gatherings. oh and my guacamole which is a throw together and my recipe for rib sauce which i learned from shh.. an exboyfriends mom.
My cooking tragedies
i make a lemon cake every year for easter. the first year i lived in vegas i was really homesick and i tried to make an easter dinner for my then boyfriend and a friend. well i took my perfect cake out of the oven and set it on the stove top to cool while i finished the rest of the meal. except i set it on a burner that i left on. and i didnt noticed til i smelled the burning.
