About this Cook
I thought cooking would never be my forte......well I have changed my mind about it. A very 'South Indian' at heart and stomach, my shift to Toronto has changed my food preferences. Sandwiches & Salads, Wedding Soup & Sausage penne pasta, Sushi & miso soup, Hot & soup Soup & Hunan Beef........I love it all. Spices a must! I love to take chances when it comes to making food or eating out...
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook south indian foods...Idli, Dosa, chutneys, curries, fish fries, variations using rice. I have discovered a new addiction to the oven. I use the oven to enhance taste and shorten duration for 'prep ups'.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The aroma of various Kootan's (sauces) and tiffins (evening snacks)..my grandma makes them all so well.....sometimes I am proud to say I have a Deja vu when i taste my own food...did grandma make it I wonder!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I ever cooked all by myself was after i came to toronto as a newly wed. I cooked for 18 people. Well I missed the dal in my sambar, but nobody noticed it........it tasted real good I guess!
My cooking tragedies
My dessert with brown sugar was so hard.........my husband said it looked like an abstract sculpture!!!
