About this Cook
Japanese/Irish/Canadian and love the food of all countries. I love how Vancouver has ALL foods of different ethnic origins. Living in Oklahoma has stunted my palate a bit. Not a lot of different cuisine and if it is another ethnic cuisine then it has been americanized. Such a shame. Lots of Tex-mex here.
My favorite things to cook
Japanese cooking, like my mom used to cook. Chicken karage is my signature recipe of hers. Okonamiyaki and sushi as well. Turkey....love to cook Turkey, wish whole turkeys were available all year round!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Thanksgiving dinner, my sister in-laws brussel sprouts with cheese sauce, my sisters dressing and the love my mom put into making her turkey. We would also have sushi-California roll. I also like to cook smothered chicken and oxtails that my mother in-law taught me how to cook.
My cooking triumphs
I can cook like my mom and am the only one in my family who can. I have stuck with her recipes.
My cooking tragedies
Fried rice......I cannot cook fried rice or bake desserts very well.

Cucumber-Mango Salsa
Really refreshing. We tried it with tortilla chips and it was ok. We made chicken breast on the grill and then used the salsa as our hamburger condiment....YUMMY!

Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken
Replace half the soy sauce with water so it is not so salty and add black pepper (2 tsp). I also followed another review wich said to use cider vinegar. Serve it over rice. YUMMY!
