My favorite things to cook
I love playing around with foods. I get lots of requests for my Chicken In A Puff Pastry (not a very technical term, I know). I also enjoy baking desserts - Cheesecakes, Pies, Cakes, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Maternal Grandmother was a wonderful cook! She was the type of woman who would have a homemade dinner on the table every evening at precisely 6pm. Growing up, my grandparents lived only a mile away from us, so we got to spend a lot of time with them. I used to love watching her cook and when my mom and her sisters got involved, the kitchen came alive! Now that she's passed on, I have some of her cook books and recipes and I love to think that she is with me when I make one of her favorites.
My cooking triumphs
I recently tried a recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake that I found right here on AllRecipes.com and it was so good, I've had to make several more since then.
My cooking tragedies
I saw a recipe in a magazine for a pasta bake. It looked easy enough until I went shopping for the ingredients. The town I go to school in doesn't have a lot of gourmet markets or even grocery stores that carry specialty breads, so I skimped and bought the most similar things I could find at Wal-Mart. When I brought it out of the oven, it didn't look quite like the magazine but I figured that was to be expected. Then I tried it and boy, was I glad that I didn't serve this experiment to friends.
