About this Cook
i love cooking for my family, friends & employee's & they love me to cook for them just as much!! my sweetie gets his football snacks every Sunday & the holiday baking begins in october every year starting with all the gr8 halloween treats! i also love having parties in the summertime for my friends and family at my home where we all enjoy lots of food, drinks, fun and sun!!
My favorite things to cook
i love baking things for my employee's!! they are so appreciative and are usually waiting mondays to see what i've brought for the break room if they haven't called over the week end to see what i'm working on!! sweets are my weakness and that is what i have the most fun with although my special friend likes more manly foods and i have become quite proficient in finger foods for sunday afternoons over the last 5 yrs.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my notoriaty in our family is baking at Christmas time!! i start in the begining of november and don't ever finish till the last few days b-4 Christmas!cookies, candies & various treats of every kind and every one gets a tray about a week or a little less b-4 Christmas! my nieces start asking in September to make sure i'll be baking b-4 i travel each year!! lol!! i'm training the kids to take over so the grandkids will learn as well and they are all getting into the act!! it's a great tradition to pass on to future generations and we are all starting cookbooks to pass on with notes of our little saying and jokes to each other and stickers and things that will remind us of each other and the fun we had cooking together when we are gone !!
My cooking triumphs
i was so stoked my first souffle, chocolate, was perfect and after being told for years how hard they were to make i felt very accomplished!! i have since realized they are not that hard to make!!! lol!!!
My cooking tragedies
one nite after a long 13 hr day at work and not too long after my sweetie moved in i was quickly trying to make beef burgandy and was starving at the same time, trying to impress rob by working all day and coming home to whip up a great dinner like super woman, in the whirl of things as i came up on the end of the preparation i used powdered sugar instead of flour to thicken the sauce. as usual being on my constant diet didn't taste the gravy again and wasn't thinking y it hadn't thickened much till the beautiful plates hit the table and we took the first bite..... need i say more!!!! lol!!!!!!! :-)

Mound Bars
wow!!! delicious!!! i added 1/4 cup extra butter to the crust to make it stay together a lil better and other than that this recipe is perfect as is and needs no changes! if u love almond joy just us milk chips and add a lil chopped almonds in chocolate and there u go! sometimes u feel like a nut sometimes u don't!! lol!!! enjoy!!

S'mores Crumb Bars
this is the first time ever i didn't take the time to read many reviews b-4 making a recipe thinking to myself how could anyone screw something so easy up.... i did by not reading ur gr8 reviews first as u all suggested u need at least 1/2 cup butter more to make a well formed crust. next time i will add the extra butter but as far as leaving all the crust on the bottom i will not! i like the extra crust on the top! it really makes the bars like a s'more and breaks up the incredible sweetness! these were amazing and all my employees loved them and all wanted the recipe!! definately one of those recipes u can play with using different chips and different marshmallows like white chips and strawberry marshmallows ect. only ur imagination can limit the possibilities!! a keeper!!!

German Apple Cake II
this cake recipe is a keeper and this is not the first time i've made it!! i actually screwed up this time and i was making it for my honeys birthday! I forgot to add the nuts, which i was using pecans because i was out of walnuts a rareity in itself, so i just chopped the pecans and put then on top which wasn't nearly as good as baked in and still the cake was gr8!! lol!! one of those "murphy's law" days!! all in all this cake is moist and fruity and delicious! a real treat!!
